Béla Bartók Concerto Poster

Hungarian composer Béla Bartók was considered one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. This typographic poster celebrates the performance of his 1943 composition Concerto for Orchestra. Click here to listen.

For this poster, I created a composition based on the alliterative letterforms of Béla Bartók’s name. The use of the classic and elegant typeface Bodoni, with its contrast between thick and thin, pairs well with the contrasting tonal changes throughout the concerto. The composition and the color scheme of this poster are inspired by the Suprematist, Constructivist, Avant-Garde, and Bauhaus art movements of the 20th century. In the gallery below, you can view some of my initial sketches, and compositional concepts.
